His contributions to the art world have also been recognized with numerous awards and honours.
Driven by continual learning and exploration, his education in Canadian and American art schools culminated in a Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts degree. Beyond formal education, Capolongo continues to enrich his knowledge and skills through personal travels, particularly to Italy and America.
Prestigious galleries in New York City, Montreal, Toronto, and Washington, DC have represented Capolongo. Among his many accolades, Capolongo is a three-time recipient of the internationally sought-after Elizabeth Greenshields Prize, a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication. He has also been featured numerous times on the radio and TV, with his work appearing in films, magazines, and newspapers, including on book and magazine covers.
In 2015, Capolongo discovered Kintsugi, the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and precious metals like gold. The artist is unique as perhaps the only known artist to adapt Kintsugi to contemporary art with authenticity, starting most paintings by actually shattering and mounting slate-like panels, then completing them with real gold. In these inspired artworks, he beautifully fuses a unique and contemporary dynamic with traditional and classical forms, which is a testament to his ability to blend diverse artistic disciplines and cultural influences. The results are innovative while deeply rooted in tradition.
Bruno Capolongo continues to make significant contributions to the art world, debuting his ‘Double Vision’ series in 2025, where each accomplished representational painting is also expressed in its abstract essence – all with equal focus and passion. This artistic journey reflects a passionate pursuit rooted in personal expression and independence, garnering the respect of his contemporaries and the admiration of art enthusiasts and collectors.
