Pei Yang – Artist

Pei Yang in an award winning artist who is both a painter and animator. His work in animation has won an Emmy.

Born in Yangzhou, China in 1971, Pei Yang began his artistic training at secondary school and has since won numerous awards at group exhibitions and competitions.

After earning an art scholarship, he immigrated to Canada to study fine arts at the Ottawa School of Animation Art and Algonquin College. During this time, he was the studio assistant to the well-known artist Philip Craig from 1999-2000. Since 1989, he has exhibited his works in many galleries and government buildings in both China and Canada. In 2001, he created a personal exhibition in Ottawa.

He has also served on the board of directors of the Chinese Canadian Arts Council of Canada from 1997-1999 and worked in several exhibitions organized by the center. As a visual artist working in film animation, he also participated in productions for Columbia Studios and DreamWorks. He received an Emmy award for his participation in the television series, “Sagwa, the Chinese Siamese Cat” in 2002. Pei is now pursuing his career in Montreal.
