Behind each flower, there is personality and symbolism waiting to be appreciated. For ages, people have imbued meaning in flowers creating a language and another means of human expression. Be resilient, like a daisy. Be bold, like a rose. This language has played a large role in our history, literature, mythologies, and folklore. Nearly every sentiment imaginable can be expressed with flowers, which is why we felt it important to host a flower art exhibition this spring.
Some examples of their associated qualities include bluebells with kindness, peonies with bashfulness, rosemary with remembrance, and tulips with passion. The meanings and traditions associated with flowers have certainly changed over time, and different cultures assign varying ideas, but the fascination with “perfumed words” persists just the same.
The works in this online spring & flower art exhibition meditate on the language of natural beauty and find a way to invite the viewer to do the same. Did these associations play into the creation of these pieces? Every piece will resonate with an individual differently. With mixed media, oil, acrylic and alcohol ink our brilliant artists have found extraordinary ways to portray the delicacy of these precious blooms. Some of these florals are represented in realism and others in impressionism or even abstraction. No matter the style we hope you enjoy this bouquet of original works. Let us know which pieces resonate with you from our spring & flower art exhibition!
