ABOUT MAREK ZOLTAK
Born in Poland, Marek Zoltak considers painting a passion. As far back as he can remember, he was always drawing. In Cracow, where he studied and obtained his Masters degree in architecture in 1976, he developed a deep interest in watercolours. For him, colour is the essential part of painting. In 1978, he completed a major commission for Saint Mary’s College in Orchard Lake, Michigan. The theme of the 8 x 16 foot oil on canvas is the Millennium of the Polish Church and it was commissioned by the Archbishop of Philadelphia, Josef Krol.
Marek also participated in several exhibitions in Poland from 1972 to 1981. Marek came to Canada in 1981 and from 1988 to 1995 worked at CBC as an architect where he was deeply involved in many projects concerning the interior design of studios across Canada. He has displayed his works in many Quebec galleries and at the CBC Maison Radio Canada in Montréal. Within his works architectural influence is always present however the discipline of forms and global impression he places on his environment are much more delicate and subtle. He is equally adept in oil and watercolour.
