ABOUT JACKY MACDONALD
Jacky is a Canadian artist, born in Quebec. She spent her formative years working, travelling and building relationships in villages and communities throughout France, Italy, Austria and Spain. It is this early experience to which Jacky attributes her motivation and inspiration to capture on canvas the essence of village life in Europe.
Jacky's paintings are bold and dramatic. She prefers to work in oil and has a definitive preference for working on larger canvasses. Her specialties are street scenes and landscapes. Jacky is able, with just a few brush strokes, to create a mood and ambiance that truly evokes village life in Provence and Tuscany.
Jacky has studied at the Ottawa School of Art and spent several years working with a small group of artists under the direction of one of Canada's most celebrated artists, Philip Craig. Her paintings are in a growing number of private and corporate collections. In 1999, one of Jacky's paintings was selected as an official gift to Princess Astride of Belgium on the occasion of her inaugural visit to Canada.
Jacky paints most days of the week from her spacious studio just outside Ottawa, Ontario.
