Biography: Henri Lobo

Recognized around the world for his fine art canvases and shale pieces, Henri Lobo is a well-established, full time artist with a true love for his practice. Lobo was born in Goa, which is located on the South West coast of India. As a young boy growing up in Goa, Henri was instructed by Italian nuns who introduced him to basic painting techniques.

Henri continued his artistic education throughout high school, and in 1969 was lead to London, England, where he trained for two years at Sir John Cass College of Art. In 1971, Henri moved to Canada, where he began working in various colour blending and cartography-related jobs. He considers this experience as integral to his current artistic practice. In 1974, Lobo took on painting full-time, and through his participation in various gallery showings, was able to travel across Canada and gain exposure as a serious artist.

Henri currently resides in Ontario, where has been living for over forty years. Henri's style is distinctively realistic, yet painterly. His generous use of acrylic and it's mediums creates a realistic three-dimensionality that is evident in all of his landscape pieces. His work is saturated with well-calculated perspective and depth that draws the viewer from foreground to background - a journey that Henri's admirers experience every time they set eyes upon one of his works.
